At The Technology Group we have been lucky enough to come across an excellent charity Leeds Mencap; they are a local, independent charity that supports people with learning disabilities. Their latest project is a £2.5 million building in East Leeds, which will house the charity’s support services, local groups and meetings and a new community nursery.
When we heard about the great things they had planned, we decided to help in the best way we know how; using our communications expertise! So we decided to kit out their new building in East Leeds with a telephony solutions and internet for the next three years. In doing this we will be providing them with £50,000 worth of equipment, engineers and continued support for free. As a family run business from Leeds it was important to us to help our local community. Our sales director Jonathan Marsden described his motivation to help “Having worked and lived in Leeds my entire life, it is an excellent opportunity for us to give something back as part of our social responsibility, we really want to support our local area, helping Leeds to thrive and develop in the near future.” Cath Lee, CEO of Leeds Mencap, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the generosity shown by The Technology Group. Jonathan and the team have shown a real belief in our ambitions for the new centre and our ongoing work to support people in Leeds with learning disabilities.” There are loads of other ways to help such as fundraising events and trips to get involved in, so who knows what we will take part in next. Jonathan and David Marsden already have their eye on a trek in the Sahara Desert. Take a look at our dedicated page http://www.technology-group.com/giving-back.html for details on how you can help, and to keep up to date with our plans to help Leeds Mencap.
